With an optimistic attitude, the Town of St. Marys has launched a new tourism-focused website www.discoverstmarys.ca to help boost visitation to the town and bring in much-needed business to local economy.
“St. Marys has some new stores, restaurants, upgraded trails and recreational activities that are just waiting to be discovered,” says Tourism and Economic Development Manager Kelly Deeks-Johnson.
“Tourism promotion over the last 18 months has been limited, however, this gave us the opportunity to create a new website that we can now use to promote St. Marys and support these new and recovering local businesses,” Deeks-Johnson explains. The website’s creation was supported by a grant from Regional Tourism Organization 4 (RTO4), part of Ontario Tourism.
There may only be a few weeks left of summer break, but the website features an array of experiences to help visitors plan a simple evening to a full weekend getaway during any season. It highlights exciting things to see and do, such as walking tours, St. Marys Quarry, Yak Shack and cycling activities. Shopping and dining is also featured with local eateries, brewery, Farmers’ Market and a Picnic Program.
Those wishing to visit St. Marys are reminded to follow all health and safety protocols. They are also asked to be patient with local businesses as they are navigating new operating procedures under the current safety guidelines. A searchable business directory makes it easy for visitors to connect with local businesses to familiarize themselves with current hours of operations and health and safety protocols before their visit.
“We want to ensure that your visit to St. Marys is an enjoyable one, even before you’re physically here,” explains Deeks-Johnson. “A user-friendly and picturesque website makes discovering St. Marys fun and an experience within itself.”
