The first snow has fallen, the garland is hung and the lights are strung for a safe return to the joys of Christmas this weekend in St. Marys!
Beginning this Friday, November 19 and continuing until Sunday, the Downtown Merchants Christmas Open House is the perfect opportunity to cross everyone off your gift list. Participating merchants are “paying the tax” all weekend long! Look for extended shopping hours on Friday, free horse-drawn wagon rides and live entertainment on Saturday, and a farmers’ market, Mr. and Mrs. Claus and Victorian carolers on Sunday.
Also on Friday, the fabulous WinterLights at Milt Dunnell Field will be lit for the season live at 7:00 p.m. on the Town of St. Marys Facebook page. Some special guests will help turn on this beloved display – be sure to tune in or enjoy live and socially distanced at Milt Dunnell! Thanks to the generosity of Thames Crest Farms, a special new component will join the display this year.
Enjoy the display nightly from 5:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. until Sunday, January 2, 2022. Donations to the display are gratefully appreciated at the donor wall or at Waving Santa.
A perfect complement to the WinterLights is the Holiday Home Tour, launching Monday, November 29! Share your merry and bright decorating skills by adding your address to the tour; simply email events@town.stmarys.on.ca by Monday, November 22. At least 20 homes are needed to make the tour via. The tour will be available on the free Driftscape app, plus as a downloadable PDF and in hard copy at municipal facilities.
There’s still time to enter your float or financially support the Kinsmen Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, November 27! The parade will return to a traditional format, but with an extended route to support social distancing. Contact parade chair Andrew Hodges at 519-520-0478 or visit the Kinsmen website for more information. The Front Porch Show will also offer live parade coverage on Facebook.
As during past parades, parking on Queen Street from Water to Church is prohibited during the parade. Closures will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 27, with designated 15-minute food pickup parking on Wellington Street. Look for reminders as the parade draws near!
